2005 USODA National Championships, Norfolk, VA
Five SFYC Juniors travelled with their familys to the National Championships in Norfolk VA from July 24 through July 29, 2005. The team was David Liebenberg, James Moody, Mariana Sosa Cordero, Kaitlyn Baab and Lauren Cefali.
The wind was very light to not at all, very, very hot and humid. On Wednesday the temperature reached 101 with 98% humidity. The heat index reached 120 Degrees. Not great weather for San Francisco Sailors.
On Monday the Girls Nationals were held. 103 girls competed. Three races were sailed, Mariana finished 40th, Lauren 50th and Kaitlyn 83rd.
Tuesday through Friday the Boys and girls Nationals were held. A total of 366 boats competed in the Red/Blue/White/Green fleets.
David placed 32nd, James placed 132nd, Mariana placed 178th, Kaitlyn placed 241st and Lauren placed 242nd.
