ELIGIBILITY, ENTRY, ENTRY FEE & AWARDS
Each participant shall not have turned 16 years of age during the year of competition and shall be a member of the United States Optimist Dinghy Association.
Trophies for first, second, third, and overall (series), as well as, first, second and third in Red, Blue and White Fleet, will be donated by Harken and presented upon completion of the series.
CLASS MEMBERSHIP
Skippers must be a member in good standing of USODA. Membership can be obtained on the USODA website at www.USODA.ORG . Click on “Membership”. Class membership is $29 if completed on-line, $35 if done by standard US Mail. Send or present proof of Class membership with your entry form such as a copy of the on-line USODA Class Membership payment receipt, or the e-mail USODA Class membership confirmation.
RULES
Each regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of US SAILING, the USODA Class Rules; this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions issued by each club, except in the event that any of these are modified by Sailing Instructions and the appendices to the Sailing Instructions.
SCORING
The Low-Point Scoring System will apply with 15 or more races scheduled. A DNC will be based on the total number of entries in the series. A DNF, DSQ and DNS will be based on the total number of Harken Series starters in each individual regatta.
Throw out races will be incorporated into the series scoring with the following formulas:
There will be one throw out for every six races scored.
Sail number changes must be reported to the Harken series chairman, Doug Cefali, or Co-Chairs Carrie Dair, and Alfonso Sosa Cordero, and reported to the race committee before the first race each day.
