TISC Trick or Treat Regatta, October 28 and 29, 2006.

On October 28 and 29, Treasure IslandSailingCenter hosted its Trick or Treat regatta, which was definitely one of the funnest regattas of the year for bay area opti sailors. The weather was spectacular and on Saturday sailors enjoyed bright sunny skys and light breezes. Sunday was a little cooler and breezier.

On Saturday, six races were held using the optimist class trapezoid for the red, blue and white fleeters, while the green fleeters used a windward leeward with a leeward finish. Saturday evening featured a wonderful BBQ dinner catered by one of Treasure Island Sailing Centers' parents. You should have seen the desserts! During the BBQ, the sailors had the chance to get their faces painted and bob for apples!

Sunday's sailing was much more casual and featured teams competing in games of Opti Ball, the Mini Pumpkin Cove Marathon, and Sponge Tag. Some sailors (and parents and coaches!) showed their halloween spirit by wearing their costumes! The blue ribbon team won the opti ball match with a score of 3 to 2, while the Killer Monkeys won the cove marathon ( TISC's Cayland Stanley earned a whopping 8 extra points for gathering 4 pumpkins on one of his laps!) and the spongetag match turned into chaos and was won by all who played.

This regatta was a big production and the local opti fleet greatly appreciates the efforts of TISC in hosting. Special Thanks to Amy Lyons and Liz Rountree of TISC for organizing and running the event, Janna Stanley for volunteering her catering services, Jim Barton and Doug Cefali for running the start and finish boats, and the UC Berkeley Sailing team for helping with regatta administration and coaching of Sunday's teams. Everyone can't wait until next year!
