TYC, SF Bay Championships, September 2/3, 2006.
The SF Bay Opti fleet held its first ever regatta at the Tiburon Yacht Club at Paradise Cay and was pleasantly surprised with some of the best regatta host work provided to the opti fleet. The TYC volunteers went out of their way to ensure that everything went perfect. The sailing venue was ideal, great breeze, flat water, and great race management. TYC also hosted a fun BBQ dinner on Saturday evening. There was even a spacious lawn area set aside for travelling sailors from Morro Bay and Redding (and a couple of locals too!) to pitch tents and spend the night! The parents helped out also and provided ample safety boat support. We even had some visitors from the opti fleet of years past sail and spectate. Cody and Tanner Nagy both raced, and Claire Dennis, fresh from her youth radial worlds victory stopped by on Sunday to watch.

The Overall trophy went to Alex Della Cese who won the San Francisco Bay Optimist Championship and best girl trophy went to Lauren Cefali. But Mariana Sosa Cordero scored a punishing bullet in race number 10 to remind everyone why she was last years fastest girl. The Honorable Mentions went to Lea Russell in the Green Division for deciding that 3 races weren't enough on the Saturday and deciding to try and race with the red white and blue sailors, and then realizing that perhaps 4 races was enough! Another Honorable Mention in the Green Division goes to Guillame de Cannart for continuing to finish the 6th (and final) race of the day on Sunday after being offered a tow into the harbor for being very tired. In the White Division an Honorable Mention goes to Trevor Rowedder for a startling first place in the first race of the day on Sunday in difficult fluky conditions, beating much older children!
